Abstract: The paper intends to analyze two of the most important mechanical-physical properties of the wooden briquettes made of biomass obtained as chip wastes from the planing process. The study on the density of the briquettes - as a physical property and the study on their perpendicular compression strength - as a mechanical characteristic are imposed by the fact that these two characteristics show the compressing grade of the chips and in the same time their compactation status. The tests performed for two species of wood - spruce and beech - allowed to establish the influence of the wood density on the briquettes density and on their compression strength.
