EXPERIMENTAL STUDY CONCERNING THE CONTENTS OF WATER SOLUBLE EXTRACTIVES AND ASH AT BLACK LOCUST WOOD HARVESTED FROM TWO GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS FROM ROMANIA

Abstract: The paper presents the experimental results for the contents of water-soluble extractives and ash of black locust wood harvested from two different geographic regions of Romania, respectively North - the Carei region and South - the Arges region. The following average values were obtained: for black locust from the North region the cool water soluble extractives content was 2.362% with 5.5 pH of watery extract, the hot water soluble extractives content was 4.244% with 4.6 pH of watery extract and ash content was 0.417%. Close values, with no significant differences were obtained for the black locust originating from the Southern region, respectively: the cool water soluble extractives content was 2.414% with 6.5 pH of watery extract, the hot water soluble extractives content was 4.469% with 4.5 pH of watery extract and ash content was 0.435%.
