PRO LIGNO celebrates these days, in September 2010, five years of existence. Five years which meant lots of work both for achieving a quality publication and for promoting it and obtaining recognition.
           We started in 2005 from the idea to re-launch the concept of an older Romanian journal, called Industria Lemnului (Wood Industry), namely that of a dissemination vector for research results - both Romanian and international - in the field of wood engineering. Following-up its forerunner, we wished for the new-born journal to become present in each Romanian woodprocessing enterprise and in all major university libraries worldwide, to be read and appreciated due to the quality and originality of the published articles.
           Having this target in view, we adopted from the beginning a bilingual format, with two columns, enhancing thus the access of Romanian specialists to foreign articles, but also the access of foreign specialists to Romanian papers. Along with the scientific content of the published papers, the bilingual character constituted a major strength for the recognition of this journal, this being indexed at only 2 years after its appearance both by the Romanian authority for scientific publications and by the American database Academic Search Complete hosted by EBSCO Publishing Ltd.
           An other proof of originality which completed the PRO LIGNO brand was the presence of the supplementary headings, like Frontlines, Event, Recent publications, Flash News, Glossary of Terms, having an informative character on the activities performed within the Wood Industry Faculty in Brasov. In 2006, the valued heading Design Dialog was added, which promotes the creativity of our students and emphasises the opportunities offered by the wood engineering field.
           Looking backwards, we are proud with our achievements and determined to consolidate our position within the range of similar international journals. Following-up the present trends, starting with March 2011, PRO LIGNO will wear a new coat: the online version. Enlarging the dissemination area and including the journal into new databases are the main objectives for the future.
           Finally, I wish to address sincere thanks to the whole PRO LIGNO team, for the professional dedication to this journal. Same as in a puzzle, each part has its own peculiarities which make it unique; each part has a well-defined role within the whole and when each part is in the right place, the overall assembly, which is truly valuable, appears, enchanting the eye, mind and heart of the viewer.
