Abstract: The paper presents a device made within the Automation Laboratory of the Wood Industry Faculty. The device employs the SHT11 digital output dual sensor for temperature and relative humidity. The sensor is used with certain computerized wood drying installations or with air-conditioning installations. The same sensor can be successfully employed to lead the wood drying process in small sized installations for experimental determinations. As for the latter, the Automation Laboratory of the Wood Industry Faculty realized and experimented different circuit diagrams which connect the sensor to a PC compatible computer. The final connection variant makes use of a microcontroller with alpha-numeric display and RS 232 interface of communication with a computer in order to record the experimental data.
