Abstract: The paper presents a simple and cheap procedure for surface treatment of beech wood with synthetic resins, as an alternative at complex and expensive dimensional stabilisation procedures, with practical use in outdoors, without soil contact. The reason for study this problem came from the desire to improve the service life of wood as well as to reduce in-time the amount of wood material used, according to the new "Sustainability concept". The outcomes obtained as result of such treatments represent a main trend of study and can be used as a first step in elaboration/developing of new combined procedures of dimensional stabilisation of wood.

Key words: dimensional stabilisation, surface treatments, synthetic resins, outdoors, evaluation.
