Motto: "Let's not
forget that this faculty has given us the chance
to become someone in the world"
Eng. Constantin DUMITRESCU, graduate class 1959

Within the Editorial from the first journal number
this year, entitled "Jubilee 50", we
presented some of the "trials" which
the academic community of our faculty will have
to pass through this year.
Making the balance of these actions, we have to
emphasise - in first line - the exemplary mobilisation
of all teaching staff members, together with an
important number of students, in order to organise
and ensure the proper unfolding of the festivities
related to this jubilee. We are greatful to all
sponsors and participants to this important event
in the life of our faculty.
The Diploma of Excellency received from the Ministry
of Education, Research and Innovation reflects
the special appreciation which the single Romanian
faculty with this profile benefits of.
As a continuation of the activities occasioned
by the 50 Years Jubilee, the International Conference
"Wood Science and Engineering the IIIrd Millennium"
was organised, honoured by the presence of over
80 participants, out of which 37 foreign participants
from 15 countries. The messages received from
our partners from all over the world make us hope
that, in future too, WOOD ENGINEERING will be
a requested profession, and young people eager
for performance will find in our faculty a proper
environment for their professional development,
considering also the efforts made by the faculty
management to permanently enrich and develop its
educational offer.
This year, two new Master study programmes were
promoted:
- Eco-Design of Furniture and Restoration;
- Advanced Wooden Structures and Innovative Technologies.
As far as the Bachelor study programmes within
the field FORESTRY ENGINEERING are concerned,
a new programme is about to be developed in this
area as well, respectively "FURNITURE DESIGN".
The educational offer of the Wood Industry Faculty,
is thus enriched and hopefully more attractive
for young people who wish to get trained "For
a profession with a safe future!"
The fifth year of appearance of PRO LIGNO Journal
gives us a good occasion to address sincerest
thanks to all collaborators, partners and high
gratitude to all sponsors who were beside us on
different occasions and supported our actions
in different ways during the last years.
As winter hollidays and the New Year are approaching,
the Editorial Board of PRO LIGNO Journal addresses
to all collaborators, founding members and sustainers
of the Foundation, as well as to all its readers
sincere wishes of health and joy, as well as a
more peaceful, safe and prosperous New Year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
