EXPERIMENTAL STUDY CONCERNING THE POWER CONSUMPTION AT THE MILLING OF PEAR WOOD

Abstract:The paper presents the results of an experimental research concerning the energy consumption at the milling of pear wood with a straight cutter with 80mm diameter, along two different processing directions (longitudinal and transversal).The experiments were carried out on a vertical milling machine MNF10, endowed with a mechanical feeding device, using an electronic assembly to record the cutting power. For the factorial research, 3 variables were used (feed speed, cutting depth and cutting width) and the obtained data were processed with DataFit using the non-linear regressing method.
The results of the analysis of the necessary cutting power, respectively of the energy consumption at milling, show that the power increases with the feeding speed, the cutting depth and the cutting width.
