Launched in September 2005, at the
International Fair BIFE-TIMB 2005, PRO LIGNO Journal
celebrates now 4 years of existence. On this occasion
we wish to thank all those who contributed to
the launching, promotion and development of this
journal from the stage of a newcomer in the series
of wood engineering-specific publications to the
stage of a scientific journal, acknowledged at
national and international level, distributed
in over 15 countries.
In first line, we wish to thank the six wood-processing
enterprises - founding members and financial pillars
of PRO LIGNO Foundation - who, beside the "Transilvania"
University from Brasov had the courage and trust
to create this foundation at the Faculty of Wood
Industry. Thus, a dream-project conceived and
thought over for many years by prof.dr.eng. Ivan
CISMARU was possible to come true: the editing
of an own scientific publication at this unique
Romanian faculty, meant to become the dissemination
vector of the latest results of Romanian and foreign
research in the field of wood engineering.
We also wish to thank the 26 members of the Editorial
Board, who performed volunteer work during these
years, ensuring through their performance in-time
appearance of all 16 numbers published so far,
as well as the quality and diversity of the published
materials. PRO LIGNO has an original structure,
combining scientific information with enterprise
presentations, reports from different events,
announcements of recent publications and recently
defended PhD-theses, articles on furniture design,
as well as flash news in the field.
A scientific journal proves its quality level
not necessarily by the number of sold issues,
but through its recognition by certified scientific
forums. Thus, the national recognition by the
National Council of Scientific Research in Higher
Education obtained first in 2006 and re-confirmed
in 2008 as a CNCSIS B+ type journal, was an important
step, which we are proud of. The indexing of PRO
LIGNO by the international database Academic Search
Complete hosted by EBSCO Publishing Ltd. USA in
June 2007 constituted a further step which promoted
PRO LIGNO as an international journal. The strengths
due to which these recognition was possible, are:
geographical diversity of publishing authors (72
foreign authors from 17 countries published up
to date articles in PRO LIGNO), the scientific
level of the articles due to strict review made
by renown specialists in the field, complete bilingual
content (Romanian and English), punctuality in
appearance and the exquisite graphical presentation.
You might ask yourselves how it is possible to
achieve such a good and nice thing under the difficult
present situation ? The answer can be resumed
to one word: by DEDICATION. This is the way how
we, the present staff of the Wood Industry Faculty
in Brasov try to honour our precursors, to launch
challenges to younger peple who might wish to
follow us and also to leave something behind that
is worth to be continued.
MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY, PRO LIGNO !
