Jubilee 50
(1959-2009)

         The reason for choosing this quote as motto of the current editorial is because it reflects best possible the frame of mind of the teaching staff from our faculty in the year of the 50-th Jubilee of existence.
Set up through the Decision of the Ministry Council No. 1412/26 September 1959, the Faculty of Wood Industrialisation, today Faculty of Wood Industry, is preparing to celebrate its 50-th anniversary.
          The year 2009 is not only the year of the Jubilee and the year of the 50-th class of graduates, but also the year of some "coincidences".
         Thus, this year the class of engineers with number 50 will be the last one completing undergraduate studies with 5 years duration.
         Also this year we have the first class of engineers (the 51-th), who graduate after 4 years of study (according to Bologna agreement). That is why the year of Jubilee is a productive one: two classes of engineers will graduate!
         The year 2009 will be a reorganisation year for our postgraduate Master's type studies (second cycle of university studies), when two new master programmes will be introduced and promoted:
         - Eco-Design for Furniture and Restoration
         - Advanced Structures and Innovative Technologies in Wood Industry.
Also, according to the legislation in force and according to ARACIS norms, the year 2009 will be the year for re-accrediting the two traditional undergraduate study programmes, which were last confirmed in 2004:
         - Wood Engineering, undergraduate studies, 4 years, full-time study
         - Finite Products Engineering, undergraduate studies, 4 years, full-time study.
         Present students, graduates and teachers from all times, guests from similar institutions from all over the world are expected to celebrate together with us the "Jubilee 50", within the International Students Scientific Session, on 7 May 2009 and within the International Conference "Wood Science and Engineering in the Third Millenium" - ICWSE 2009, between 4-6 June 2009.
         We invite all graduates of the Faculty of Wood Industrialisation / Wood Industry to contact the Conference organisers, the faculty leadership for events supporting, for active participation in our actions!
