The authors have the pleasure
to announce the publication of the third
volume of this book, which mainly aims to
simplify the activity of conception and
elaboration of the engineering documentation,
necessary in the phase of industrial processing
of some components like wooden frames and
unedged panels.
The objectives of the book were achieved
by:
- systematizing the data with regard to
the components and parts used in furniture
and finished wooden products manufacturing,
depending on their shape, dimensions and
jointing type;
- grouping the components in families of
components and technology types;
- establishing the processing technologies
for each type of part or component, specifying
the order of operations, processing feed,
machines and tools, devices and checking
devices necessary to be used.

This book is the result
of more than ten years of documentary research.
The lifestyle, the comfort of living, the
furniture and its decoration techniques
in Ancient Rome are a recognizable source
of the configuration of modern European
housing and interiors. The impulse for finalizing
this monographic study was given by the
sincere appreciation of the lectures given
by the author on this subject at the New
Design University, St. Poelten, Austria,
in 2006. It addresses all readers who are
interested in (re)discovering the fascination
exerted by the universe of Ancient Rome.
The author wishes to address her acknowledgements
to the National Council for Scientific Research
in Higher Education (CNCSIS), which by financing
the ongoing research project on "Eco-design
and Eco-technologies for Furniture and Other
Products Obtained from Secondary Natural
Resources", made possible the printing
of this book, which comprises information
regarding the ancient origin of the utilization
of sliced wooden branches for veneering
furniture surfaces.

A most valuable technical
book, with a rich informational content,
most useful both to production specialists
and teaching & research staff. This
is how the latest publication in the field
of wood drying can be resumed in only a
few words. The book is the result of Prof.
Thomas Trübswetter's lifetime work
as a teacher at Fachhochschule Rosenheim
(Germany), trainer of more than 30 generations
of students and, at the same time, a renown
consultant on matters of drying and other
heat treatments of wood. The book combines
in an inspired way the essential theoretical
aspects of wood drying with the application
of diverse drying technologies in practice.
It also contains valuable information on
matters of kiln design, with a view to assist
users and kiln producers in improving drying
quality and kiln construction.

The book represents a new
apparition in the field of construction
and exploitation of wood-processing machine-tools.
The book was structured having as a starting
point a brief analysis of the method of
wood processing with circular saws and tools
construction, followed by a presentation
of machine-tools grouped on technological
operations, constructive types and even
models. Older and newer circular saws, with
simple or complex construction, as well
as new generation equipments are presented.
To facilitate understanding, graphic illustration
was used on an extended scale. A conventional
presentation mode was approached, but originally
adapted in accordance to the author's thinking
and concept.
