ON THE RESPONSE OF WOOD PLATES TO HIGH RATES OF LOADING

Abstract: Wood plates made from
different types of wood have been impacted by
three different kinds of projectile: 7,62mm bullet,
5,3mm ball and sharp fragment. Results of the
ballistic testing are presented and discussed.
Relation between ballistic resistance and density
of wood is described and evaluated. The experimental
results have been described in terms of a simple
analytical model.
