Abstract: This work presents some results of the antifungal efficacy of boron compounds (boric acid and borax) which have been reached on the basis of standard and non-standard mycological tests. Boron compounds were used for treatment of: wooden chips before pulp production; wooden particles or glues before production of bakelite, plywood and particleboards; solid wood before preparation of compressed wood and fire-resistant wood; archaeological wood. The antifungal resistance of wooden materials and products was tested by European standards EN 113 and ENV 839, and also by national standards and unspecified methods.

Key words: fungicides, boron, wood, wooden composites, mycological tests.
