Abstract:
This paper is the last part of the historical background of wooden bridges. The evolution of these constructions during the period of the '70s-'90s is analysed, by emphasizing the progresses made first in Northern America, then in Europe as well. As far as modern bridges are concerned, examples of pedestrian bridges prevail. The most significant constructions, considering the new possibilities of wood processing, will be analysed within the second part of this article series, entitled Recent Works and which will be approached within four other consecutive issues of PRO LIGNO Journal.

Key word: wooden bridges, wooden constructions, history.
