EDITORIAL
Within the previous editorial, we expressed our
opinion that during 2007, the year of Romania's
adhesion to the European Union, will also be the
beginning of the long way of our country's INTEGRATION
within all institutional structures of the E.U.
As far as we are concerned, we appreciate that
the events which took place during the first semester
of this year encourage us to look optimistic into
the future ! Here are, briefly, the main reasons
for this optimism:
- in April 2007, our PRO LIGNO Journal gained the
acknoledgement of the National Council of Scientific
Research in Higher Education - CNCSIS - as a national
scientific journal with potential for international
recognition;
- in 02.05.2007, the PRO LIGNO Foundation together
with the German Society for Technical - GTZ/GmbH,
Eschborn, inaugurated at the Faculty of Wood Industry
the new Centre for Research, Innovation and Technological
Transfer - CCITT - a facility entirely endowed
within the Contract Nr. 27/Holz, amounting 65.750
EURO.
- during 14 - 18 May 2007, a contingent of our
faculty, consisting of five members of the teaching
staff, performed a vist in Germany, on the invitation
of "PRO WOOD STIFTUNG", who financed
this journey. On this occasion, several objectives
were achieved: vist at Fachhochschule Rosenheim
and the modern furniture manufacture STEELCASE
(on 14.05.2007), visit of the group FESTO (FESTOOL,
FESTO DIDACTIC - on 15.05.2007), visit at the
LIGNA+ Fair in Hannover (on 17-18.05.2007). The
meeting with the President of the Management Board
of PRO WOOD STIFTUNG D-l dr.ing. Dieter SIEMPELKAMP
and the Executive manager, Dr.eng. Bernhard DIRR,
were a good opportunity to build the fundamentals
of a future collaboration between the PRO WOOD
Foundation Germania and the PRO LIGNO Foundation
- Romania.
The meetings and discussions with the most important
producers of woodprocessing machine-tools, like
ALTHENDORF, MARTIN, WEINIG GROUP, GRECON, HOLZER,
HOMAG etc., as well as with the representative
from profile universities, who presented their
educational offer at the fair, was a good opportunity
to know the economic and educational reality at
European level in the field of forestry engineering.
We hereby express our hope and convictionthat
the future scientific events which are to be organised
by the faculty will also help complying with the
exigencies of the INTEGTATION. Thus, the actions
which will take place at the faculty in the most
near future - COST E37 workshop and ICWSE-2007 -
fit well in this context.
