Any year end is a moment of making summaries. And, looking objectively behind, we may say that 2006 was a good year for us, a year with many renewals at the Faculty of Wood Industry in Brasov. Thus, several teaching facilities were renovated; modern pieces of equipment were purchased for didactic and research laboratories, summing up a total value of over 70,000EURO; a high number of teachers and PhD students got involved in research contracts which enhanced not only the access to modern research facilities, but also the participation to prestigious international conferences… and the enumeration can go on …
But without any doubt, the greatest achievement of 2006 is putting back into right, by the Government Resolution H.G. 1175 / 06.09.2006 of our domain, FORESTRY ENGINEERING, as a licence and doctoral domain. Unlike the end of the last year, when we expressed our indignation and concern generated by the tentative of transforming Wood Engineering – an over 50 years old traditional field in Romanian higher education – into a sub-domain (appendix) of Industrial Engineering, it is now we have motifs for great joy. The attention awarded now again to this major economical field was also confirmed by the honoring visit which the president, Mr. Traian Băsescu, paid to the Exhibition organized by the Faculties of Wood Industry and Forestry during his visit in Brasov, at the festive opening of the new universitary year 2006/2007.
For PRO LIGNO Journal, 2006 meant on-time appearance of all 4 foreseen numbers, comprising a total of 8 international and 15 Romanian scientific contributions, the conclusion of 8 exchange agreements with other journals, obtaining of financial support from the National Authority for Scientific Research (ANCS) and starting the accreditation procedure at national and international level. We can only hope that, at the end of the next year, we will have again reasons for joy.
Within this context, the recognition of PRO LIGNO as a prestigious scientific publication is the main target.
Many tanks to all our readers for the vote of confidence towards this young and ambitious publication. We wish you all a Happy New Year, with fulfillments both in your professional and private life. The Editorial Board |
