ASSESSMENT OF AIR STATE PARAMETERS ACCORDING TO WOOD MOISTURE CONTENT DURING DRYING

Abstract:
This paper comprises an analysis of the steady-flow heat and mass transfer processes performed for a convective compartment-type dryer, using for this purpose the equation of the first law of thermodynamics as drying rate equation. The paper presents an evaluation method for the parameters of the drying agent (air) according to the wood moisture content and its application manner to a HD-type kiln whilst drying softwood and beech timber. The calculation results with respect to temperature and relative air humidity lead to close values compared to those used in practice, which validates the proposed method.
