BEHAVIOUR OF THE WOOD ROD AT IMPACT ON THE RIGID ANVIL

Abstract:
A three-dimensional numerical analysis of the impact of a wood rod on a rigid anvil has been performed. This numerical simulation has been used for the highlighting of some experimental results obtained for spruce rods with circular cross section. The explicit Lagrangean finite element code LS DYNA 3D has been used to analyse the specimen response. The wood has been considered as global orthotropic linear elastic material with a material damage. The material damage has been described by the Tsai - Wu theory.
