Nowadays, when circumstances direct us towards the concurential economy of Europe and the woodprocessing industry has to exist and develop as one of the most important chances of our existence, we consider that the interest for the transfer of technological information and the support of fundamental and applicative research should become priorities for the whole productive sector.

PRO LIGNO journal has been created as a linking bridge (which lacked for many years) between education, research and production, in order to ensure – in both directions - the dissemination of novelties in the field of wood engineering.

We can state now, that we have the possibility of real, selective and valuable communication between wood industry specialists, with no regard to their preoccupations within this wide field of activity.

A heartful team from the Faculty of Wood Industry in Brasov created this link and makes efforts to ensure its continuity. The unicity of PRO LIGNO journal is given by the fact that it is the only scientific journal in this field in Romania, it is almost completely bilingual and it has a user-friendly structure and content.

This is because PRO LIGNO wishes to represent successfully both the education&research segment and the economic sector, with all their achievements and difficulties related to the training of future specialists, the obtaining of funds for research etc., but also the conception and marketing of original products, capable of complying with increasing demands, as concerns quality, functionality and costs.

Considering the effort performed to create this journal, to promote it in over 20 countries from all over the world and to maintain a high quality standard regarding its contents, we consider that this journal deserves to live on. Therefore, all of us who are interested for its “life” should get more and more involved and sustain the journal both financially and by contributions.

On this occasion, I wish to address to all specialists from the woodprocessing field in Romania, and also to researchers from abroad, a genuine call to contribute to the life and quality of PRO LIGNO journal, by subscribing and by sending articles, technical reports, other own achievements (publication, PhD theses) to be published and made known worldwide through PRO LIGNO.
