PRO LIGNO Journal has undergone in a relatively short time important steps within the recognition process as a valuable scientific journal. This was possible only due to a most serious and professional attitude of those who wrote the articles published, of those who performed the reviews of these articles, of those who put them in page, of those who printed it etc. The rapid evolution promoted PRO LIGNO at national scale, being quoted today a CNCSIS type B+ journal, as well as at international scale, being indexed already since 2007 by Academic Search Complete and with founded aspiration to be soon ISI-indexed as well.
           PRO LIGNO is at the present moment the only Romanian scientific journal in the field of wood engineering, being thus the most important dissemination vector of scientific achievements from all over the world towards Romanian wood processing industry. The articles published both by Romanian and foreign specialists, present researches performed in laboratories endowed with latest equipment. This, as well the rigorous reviews performed by the international scientific committee, ensured a high scientific level, but at the same time, practical, applicative papers were favored and encouraged, in order to respond as good as possible to the needs of the enterprises, to assist them with their modernization and optimization strategies.
           Unfortunately, only few industries understood the mission of this journal and the chance offered to them through the effort of the journal staff to translate integer papers in order to make them easier accessible to the Romanian public. Consequently, although the subscription taxes were kept very low, the interest of the Romanian wood industry sector remained at low quotes, either because of not being aware of its existence or because of the current crisis we are all struggling with.
           In order to enable PRO LIGNO Journal to accomplish its mission as a dissemination vector in the sector, the institution which manages this publication - the PRO LIGNO Foundation - has decided to make a change in 2011, by going full access online starting with the March 2011 issue. We are confident that our readers will welcome this change, which will make PRO LIGNO articles easier accessible to a wider audience. The long-term effect expected is an increasing number of citations, as an essential condition for accessing further recognition levels.
